Google has entered an agre🔯ement to purchase Wiz, a leading cloud security startup used by Salesforce, Siemens, Morgan Stanley, and more tha🦩n half of Fortune 100.
Rumors circulated in mid-2024 that 168彩票:Google was interested in the cybersecurity f🍌irm, but the deal was ultimately put on hold. Assaf Rappaport, Wiz co-founder and CEO, that Google and Wiz have finally reached a de🐲finitive agreement,﷽ to the tune of an all-cash $32 billion deal.
Today Go💞ogle has entered into an agree💜ment to acquire Wiz!
Our c🐻ommitment to the Wiz mission has never been stronger: we aim to help every organization secure everything they build and run in the cloud—any cloud. We believe that our partnership with Google will supercharge this vision and help us achieve it even faster.
Rappaport addressed concerns that Google could limit the company’s relationships with other cloud providers, including Google rivals AWS and Azure.
Wiz will keep its commitment to being a multicloud platform, collaborating closely w🏅ith all major clouds, including our fantastic partners at AWS, Azure, and OCI, while contin꧟uing to grow our partner network across the industry.
Rappapor♊t also said the deal will help Wiz accelerate its innovation.
We’re not maintaining꧂ our pace of innovation—we’re about to 🃏accelerate it! Even by Wiz standards 😉 With the incredible resources of Google Cloud, we’re ready to move faster than ever.
In a blog post on the company’s site, Rappaport again emphasized the importance of the company’s multicloud approach.
Today’s news comes back to that same guiding principle. Wiz and Google💧 Cloud are both fueled by the belief that cloud security needs to be easier, more accessible, more intelligent, and democratized, so more organizations can adopt and use cloud and AI securely.
We both also believe Wiz needs to remain a multicloud platform, so that across any cloud, we will continue to be a leading platform. We will still work closely with our great partners at AWS, Azure,🥂 Oracle, and across the entire ind꧃ustry.
Wiz has achieved so much in a 𒀰relativelyℱ short period, but cybersecurity moves at warp speed and so must we. The time is now.
Similarly, in its own blog post, to keep Wiz’s products multicloud.
Wiz’s products will continue to work and be available across all major clouds, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud platforms, and will be offered to customers through an array of partner security solutions. Google Cloud will also continue to offer customers wide choice through a v🌌ariety of partner security solutions available in the Google Cloud Marketplace.
The Regulatory Hurdle
The big question is whether regulators will attempt to block the acquisition. While Wiz does not fall into꧂ the categories where Google is fending off lawsuits, such as its search and advertising businesses,🅠 there is no doubt the company is under increased scrutiny.
Given that Wiz offers multicloud cybe🍬rsecurity options, regulators may want more than a non-binding assurance that Google will continue to give competitors access to Wiz products and services.
Ultimately, the Google/Wiz deal could prove to be the first major test of the Trump administration’s stand on Big Tech and high-value deals within the tech industry.
